When Cardinal George Pell was officially elevated to the status of God's banker this week, Rupert Murdoch was among the first to congratulate him.

''Pope Francis appoints brilliant Cardinal Pell from Sydney to be No.3 power in Vatican. Australia will miss him but world will benefit,'' tweeted the Sun King.

Mind you, God was on Rupert's mind well before Pell's promotion.

Just minutes earlier, he had tweeted about the ''amazing and moving film Son of God''.

No surprises for guessing the movie was backed by a company called 20th Century Fox which had a pretty special blurb for the movie.

''Now, the larger-than-life story of The New Testament gets a larger-than-life treatment in the stand-alone feature SON OF GOD. Told with the scope and scale of an action epic, the film features powerful performances, exotic locales, dazzling visual effects and a rich orchestral score from Oscar-winner Hans Zimmer.''

We are sure Pell, and Pope Francis, can't wait.
