another cock-up disguised as a SNAFU...

cambodia deal

And these idiots had to pay for the transportation...

green light to a SNAFU...

back in May 2014....

It appears Australia has got the green light to resettle refugees in Cambodia despite strong criticism from refugee and human rights advocates.

Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Sen has revealed that plans are already well advanced to send 1000 people from Australian detention centres to Cambodia but he has insisted that refugees not be sent against their will.

It is not known exactly how much Australia will pay for the deal but Cambodia's opposition leader Sam Rainsy says refugees should be accepted on human rights grounds and not as a financial incentive.

Today:

Australia’s $55m plan to resettle refugees from Nauru to Cambodia appears finished, with just four refugees moved to the south-east Asian country at a cost of more than $13m per refugee.

Four refugees – an Iranian couple, Iranian man and a Rohingyan man from Burma – were transferred from Nauru to the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh in June.

Since then, they’ve lived in relative luxury in an Australian-funded villa, and will remain there indefinitely.

However, Cambodia expects it will take no more from Australia’s resettlement plan.

“We don’t have any plans to import more refugees from Nauru to Cambodia,” interior ministry spokesman Khieu Sopheak told the Cambodia Daily. “I think the less we receive the better.”

Under the deal, signed by previous immigration minister Scott Morrison and Cambodia’s interior minister Sar Kheng last September, Australia promised an additional $40m in aid to the impoverished south-east Asian country as well as $15.5m in resettlement, housing, education and integration costs for the refugees.

The deal was a massive con-trick devised by Turdy to deceive the Australian public...

playing down an expensive joke...

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton has played down reports Cambodia does not want to settle more refugees as part of its transfer deal with Australia.

Four people were transferred from Nauru to the South-East Asian nation in June in an arrangement costing Australia more than $55 million, but a Cambodian ministry spokesman has reportedly said the fewer refugees the country receives, the better.

Mr Dutton said the comments were from a low-level official and he expected Cambodia to continue to honour the agreement.

"We have discussions ongoing at an officials level, and we have a level of confidence in the MOU that we've signed with the Cambodian government which allows for more than four to go," he told the ABC's World Today program.

"We hope a lot more will follow the four, but the MOU has been signed between Cambodia and Australia and we expect it to be honoured and we're working with Cambodians to that end.

"There are other people in Nauru now who are prepared to go to Cambodia and we're working through the detail of that with the officials."

The Federal Opposition earlier slammed Australia's refugee resettlement deal with Cambodia as an "expensive joke".

from snafus, fucups, cockups to wreckages...

With the Dyson Heydon debacle and the Border Force farce, Team Australia Captain Tony Abbott can't take a trick these days and may only have weeks left in charge, writes senior correspondent Barry Everingham.

As one newspaper put it, Tony Abbott has about 19 days left in "The Lodge" — well, 19 days if the Canning by-election goes ape. If it does Abbotts many detractors will move against him.

Why they havent moved already is beyond belief.

He prevaricated for so long over the Bronwyn Bishop Choppergate fiasco, all the oxygen was sucked out of the government for several long weeks.

And during that interregnum, the Dyson Heydon outrage took on a track of its own, giving the union carte blanche to drop a bucket all over him. Heydon, a former high-flying legal academic and High Court judge who has led a politically motivated and disgracefully one-sided Royal Commission.

Yesterday, however, the dry, frosty conservative former judge decided that a fair-minded observer would not apprehend he had any bias whatsoever and so the show must go on. In his 67-page judgement, Heydon said it was "fanciful" to suggest he should read his emails and open attachments.

We haven't heard the end of all this.

When the Senate resumes sitting, Abbott will need to get what's left of his mind around the Opposition's motion to ask the Governor General to withdraw Heydon's commission and shut down the Royal Commission.

As though all that isn't enough, Abbott's version of Dad's Army, under the command of Peter Dutton, decided to do a Hitler/type Pinochet attack on migrants strolling the streets of Melbourne, demanding anyone of non-Anglo Saxon appearance to immediately produce their visas!

Social media went viral and that cute move was called off.

Abbott was quick off the mark denying he knew anything about it and Dutton said his office was informed of the move but no-one had read the email. Then he said the office had read the email, which had been sent to his office twice, but not opened the attachments and certainly not informed him. Heard that one before?

Abbott was licking his lips when he was making his denial — a sure sign that he isn't being all that truthful.

Of course he knew!

Dutton, in a previous life, was a Queensland detective — sounds like there may be a story there lurking to see the light of day. Especially with Dutton's defensive and sour-tempered appearances in the media yesterday and this morning. In the space of 24 hours he has blamed the CFMEU, the ABC and Fairfax for the trouble he is in and called for Bill Shorten and Richard Marles to apologise for asking questions about Border Force's training.

Peter Dutton's 'blame everyone for the govt's woes' tour in full swing. Increasingly bizarre. #auspol #ausunions https://t.co/BmDpMsfEII

This odd, brussel sprout of a minister is simply not up to scratch.

Right now, he is tying himself in knots trying to justify the millions of dollars he has paid the Cambodians to resettle four asylum seekers. As Cambodia is one of the most corrupt countries around. it would be fair to ask who got the millions.

Then along came Joe.

Abbott needs his treasurer like he needs a a hole in the head ... sorry, correction — another hole in the head.

Senator Arthur Sindodinis let the cat out the bag by demanding Abbott sack those who leaked that interesting piece of Prime Ministerial insanity so close to a by election.

Abbott can't take trick these days — the captain and his troops are fighting a losing battle.

One of four refugees sent to Cambodia in a $55 million deal with Australia only three months ago wants to quit the impoverished nation.

Three others, an Iranian couple and Iranian man, have also complained about their lives in the capital Phnom Penh, sources say.

A 24-year-old ethnic Rohingya man from Myanmar has told Cambodian officials he wants to return to his homeland.

The trafficking of refugees is an offence under the United nations laws. Turdy, our mad monk, in his "resettlement program" is squarely indulging in REFUGEE TRAFFICKING, including paying (out of OUR taxes), others to take care of his own (Australia's) obligation in regard to refugees.

All of this is illegal in the eye of the United nations, but when was the last time that Turdy took any notice of international laws? He never did. While using the Australian Navy to "turn back the boats", he forced the said navy to breach at least four international laws many times over. Turdy has shamed Australia.

How many people died from Turdy's "turn back the boats" policy, we'll never know until there are proper investigations of this government ineptitude and deceit.
