full of their own boots...

full off it

Nothing could demonstrate the ridiculous relationship between right wing shock jocks and the former Abbott government than Ray Hadley’s astonishing treatment of Scott Morrison on Friday.

Hadley, channelling the blind rage of the supporters of the former prime minister, took it upon himself to allege, on air, that Morrison was lying when he denied “running dead” or persuading backbench supporters to vote for Malcolm Turnbull even though he himself voted for Tony Abbott. According to the Abbott supporters’ post mortem it was the Morrison-bloc votes that sealed his fate.

Hadley had the temerity to insist that Morrison – a Christian – swear on a Bible to prove he was not lying to a radio announcer. Exactly who does this bloke think he is?

deliberate data breach access...

Former immigration minister Scott Morrison instructed his department to set up a process guaranteed to fail for handling a major data breach that disclosed the personal details of almost 10,000 asylum seekers, a landmark federal court decision has found.

The ruling found the immigration department responded to a data breach disclosing the personal details of thousands of asylum seekers in a way that was “unfair to a significant degree” and had not provided procedural fairness to asylum seekers affected.

The extraordinary comments by three federal court judges – in a unanimous decision – are highly critical of the immigration department and the instruction given by the minister. The case may have a profound impact on the future processing of thousands of asylum seekers affected by the data breach.

morrison wears his budgie smugglers inside out...

As IA readers know, Bob Ellis predicted the axing of Abbott before the end of his first term. Last Sunday, he shortened the odds by correctly predicting Monday as D-Day. Now, after Scomo's controversial interview with Ray Hadley, Bob's crystal ball shows Morrison's head in a noose before the weekend is out.

I PREDICTED last Sunday night that Abbott would fall on Monday morning or Monday night. I was right, as I was when I said in 2009 that Abbott, not Hockey, would be made leader by “two votes, one of them disputed”.

I’m not that sure of what will occur in Canning, a faraway country of which I know little.

What I am now sure of, however, is Morrison’s hectic, fraudulent mediocrity.

He showed it on Ray Hadley yesterday morning. Caught out in five lies, he refused to swear on the Bible that he had not spoken to his faction, or to Turnbull, about how his faction would vote, and how he would vote, when he held and controlled the numbers to decide who would be Prime Minister. Then he said he would swear on the Bible, and Hadley closed down the interview.

He has been called “a brilliant communicator”, and, by Laurie Oakes, “the next Prime Minister”. But he’s actually pretty lousy when he faces an interviewer.

He answers too rapidly, fudges too readily, and, like an army sarmajor, bullies and bellows and insults, and makes on the hop fool decisions that cannot be justified.

He’s a people smuggler.  He’s a pirate. And under most international law a kidnapper and facilitator of child abuse. He cyberbullied two young men into burning themselves to death. He organized the escape of eleven murderers, those that killed Reza Barati, from arrest and trial and imprisonment, or he looked the other way while bureaucrats beneath him did so. And, when asked about these things, he imagines he only has to shout and rail and deny everything to escape what will come to him eventually, probably, years in gaol.

one of them is lying less...

Former prime minister Tony Abbott has accused Scott Morrison of misleading people about his role in Malcolm Turnbull's leadership takeover.

Mr Morrison voted for Mr Abbott in the leadership spill last week but did not seek to convince any of his colleagues to put their support behind him.

Mr Morrison was promoted from social services minister to Treasurer by Mr Turnbull, with both men declaring no deal was done prior to the leadership ballot.

Mr Abbott had offered Mr Morrison the treasury portfolio after Mr Turnbull challenged him, but Mr Morrison declined.

Speaking afterwards, Mr Morrison told Macquarie radio: "I didn't understand why he wanted me to pick a fight with Joe Hockey and throw him under a bus."

It is a charge Mr Abbott denied in a beach-side interview with Sydney's Daily Telegraph newspaper.

"Not true, not true," he said.

-----------

If I had to choose between two big pinocchios lying on the media, Morrison would likely lie less with Hadley than Abbott in the Telegraph... No love lost between porkyists... No truth anywhere to be seen with these phonies...

hadley judges him by his inglorious policies...

Their friendship survived the infamous bible incident but it looks like Treasurer Scott Morrison's chummy relationship with Sydney radio shock jock Ray Hadley could be on the rocks again.

Under pressure over his performance in a major National Press Club speech last week, Mr Morrison failed to appear on Hadley's 2GB radio program on Monday morning - the first time he's missed his weekly interview slot since the Coalition won power, according to the broadcaster.
