Former prime minister Tony Abbott has given further hints he may be considering staying on in the Federal Parliament and suggested the public will better appreciate his legacy with the passage of time.

Mr Abbott, who was ousted as prime minister in a leadership coup last month, also confirmed his relationship with Bronwyn Bishop had deteriorated, as a result of her being dumped as speaker over her grandiose use of entitlements.

The former prime minister returned to life as a local member in his northern Sydney electorate of Warringah this week, visiting a local school that had recently lost five classrooms in a fire.

Memory of stuff floating inside a dunny... I mean it feels good to know that TA is a former whatever and his name is not associated with PM any more, except as a past mistake... Australia’s opposition to the creation of a body to help people escaping the ravages of climate change appears to have paid off, with the idea dropped from the draft agreement for the crucial UN climate talks in Paris.

A previous draft of the deal to be thrashed out by nations included a “climate change displacement coordination facility” that would provide “organised migration and planned relocation”, as well as compensation, to people fleeing rising sea levels, extreme weather and ruined agriculture.
