Farmers struggling to cope with the drought are desperate for rain, but in northern New South Wales they have instead been hit by a severe hailstorm, which has wiped out a number of crops.

The storm hit late yesterday, and ripped through the small hinterland town of Comboyne, south-west of Port Macquarie, affecting a strip of farms in the area.

Ernst Tideman, who has a blueberry and avocado farm in the area, said his crops had been destroyed.

"There were hail stones the size of golf balls, or 50 cent pieces, they destroyed the avocados, the crop we had started harvesting, and the flowering for next year, and a lot of the branches have been severely damaged," he said.

How come god allowed the destruction of crops by hail, under Scummo's watch? I ask you. Was this a miracle? Oh, I know, I know... In Christian cultural tradition, it's a test from god — or a punishment because you have sinned... Did Scummo pray for rain — and god though he was a bit too cocky? Is it because god wants Scummo to renege on coal and other fossil fuels? Does god exist? No. 

 

a twisted wide-ranging inquiry ...

The Senate has given the go-ahead to a wide-ranging inquiry into Australia's family law system, despite criticism from anti-violence campaigner Rosie Batty that appointing One Nation leader Pauline Hanson as a deputy chair would bias the probe.

The inquiry, which was criticised by anti-domestic violence groups after being announced on Tuesday, will examine the family court system, along with child support, and a proposed merger between the Family Court and the Federal Circuit Court.

Senator Hanson, who has been a vocal proponent of an inquiry, made comments this morning suggesting women make false accusations of domestic violence to stop men having access to children, arguing the issue should be examined by the inquiry.

Ms Batty called out those remarks, saying the One Nation leader's comments were "incredibly damaging", and proof the senator "already has an agenda".

In regard to global warming, Pauline Hanson is an imbecile and acts like one. This is easily demonstrated by the stupid questions she asks, then providing the idiotic answers herself... She only gets elected by the bottom of the barrel of ningnongs in brine, mostly in Queensland, where madness seems to be a common denominator in some areas... Scummo should have dismissed Hanson's appearance on this "wide-ranging" inquiry, but one nasty cartoonist would suggest Scummo is secretly in love with her now fake red hair. Actually he admires Pauline for her brains...
