the sun in our eyes and blinded by the shine on our own swords, our aim is haphazard...

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) has urged unity, as the agency comes under continued fire from US President Donald Trump.

Speaking on Wednesday, Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus defended the WHO's work and called for an end to the politicisation of Covid-19.

Mr Trump said he would consider ending US funding for the UN agency.

The president accused the WHO of being "very China-centric" and said they "really blew" their pandemic response.

Dr Tedros has now dismissed the comments, insisting: "We are close to every nation, we are colour-blind."

After first attacking the WHO on Tuesday, President Trump renewed his criticism at his press briefing on Wednesday, saying the organization must "get its priorities right". He said the US would conduct a study to decide whether the US would continue paying contributions,

Also answering questions at the briefing on Wednesday evening, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the administration was "reevaluating our funding with respect to the World Health Organization.

"Organisations have to work. They have to deliver the outcomes for which they were intended," Mr Pompeo said.

how can you hide them?...

China's top diplomat in the United States refuted the claims that his country has underreported the number of COVID-19 cases and related deaths, suggesting instead that the accusers usually have things under their "dirty carpet".

Ambassador Cui Tiankai, in an interview with Ian Bremmer at the weekly digital and broadcast show Gzero World, also said that the majority of the several million people believed to have left Wuhan before the capital of Central China's Hubei was locked down on Jan 23 to combat the novel coronavirus had actually remained within China, instead of traveling elsewhere and spreading the virus.

The program began airing nationally over the weekend on US public television.

"For the accusations that China is hiding the numbers, just think about it. We have such a huge population, such a big country, you cannot hide the cases with such a very vicious virus," Cui said in the interview on April 3.

"Because if you have patients, they are just patients. If people are infected, they're just infected, how can you hide them?" Cui told Bremmer, president and founder of Gzero Media and Eurasia Group.

As for those people and some institutions accusing China of concealing, Cui suggested that if looking at their own history, normally they are the people and institutions who are "always hiding and concealing" something from the public.

He was not asked to elaborate on who the accusers are.

Comments by Sergey Lavrov on the US attacks on WHO

The American president has repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with the work of the World Health Organization and threatened to stop allocating money to its budget. And in the White House itself the idea was even expressed to create its own alternative to the international structure.

The claims of the United States boil down to the fact that WHO, allegedly, did not respond promptly to the appearance of coronavirus, which led to a pandemic.

And so, during a daily briefing, Trump announced that the United States will suspend its participation in financing an international organization and "will seek reform of WHO." "I intend to raise this issue with other countries," said the occupier of the White House.
What does the Russian Foreign Ministry think about this?
According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, WHO acted effectively at all stages of the development of the situation with coronavirus.
"WHO has played and continues to play an important coordinating role in helping fight the pandemic," said Lavrov.

According to Lavrov, Trump's words and deeds on this issue diverge from his own, since some times ago the US not only approved, but actively supported the UN consensus resolution on this issue. And now, Trump is simply trying to politicise the coronavirus problem.

“I would certainly have warned of such attempts (politicisation). They are observed not only with regard to the role of WHO, but also with the accusations made against this or that other country. I would still concentrate on concrete steps to stop the pandemic and its spread, to minimise damage and, above all, damage to people's health and life. And only then it will be possible to analyse the lessons of the past “reactions" and its mistakes, the role of international institutions,” the diplomat said.
Lavrov also recalled that, since the United States is the largest payer of contributions to WHO, there (in the organization) they have the largest representation.
"The largest number of Americans work at key posts at WHO. They are undoubtedly experts and their decisions are informed and professional," the Russian Foreign Minister concluded.

Methinks that the dithering by WHO in the early days of the pandemic were confusing, especially confusing to a genius. Being only a few paces behind, Trump bore the core of criticism for acting “too late”, while the WHO was also too late with its assessments. Only China got onto the case at lighting speed AHEAD of WHO.

the global reset button...

What the globalists needed was a reason to reset the economy without losing power. Perhaps it is another coincidence that the C19 lockdown regime just happens to deliver both the mechanism and the excuse to press that global reset button. That it also ushers in all the globalist’s desires is just another in a very long line of remarkable coincidences.

Now that global terrorism is no longer a daily threat and global warming has been put on the back burner, the new normal of the ever shifting threat from pandemic seems to be the novel war on terror. Training, funding and equipping terrorist groups has served the State well in the first two decades of the 21st century but now it is ready to move on to the next phase by exploiting a terror closer to the heart of every home. Disease.

In their totality, for those willing to look, it is transparent that these response measures have coalesced to create the framework for a totalitarian dictatorship. One rolling out at pace in the UK. Similar draconian diktats have sprung up across the globe.

A coordinated global effort like this doesn’t just happen. It takes years of training and planning. The only people who can’t see it are those who, for whatever reason, choose not to.

spilled beans from conflicted WHO staffers?...

At the height of the coronavirus outbreak, Chinese officials kept vital information from the World Health Organisation which could have slowed the spread and saved lives.

Recordings obtained by the Associated Press (AP) revealed WHO staffers were tossing up how to keep China on side while pressing them to provide gene sequences and detailed patient data.

Desperate to not anger officials, the WHO publicly praised China by claiming it had “immediately” shared with them a genetic map of the virus, the investigation found.

WHO claimed China’s commitment to transparency was “very impressive, and beyond words”, – even as officials were struggling to get the information they needed from them.

Pressure has been mounting on WHO in recent weeks as US President Donald Trump accused the UN agency of being too beholden to China.

Mr Trump announced earlier this week his administration was “terminating” its relationship with the World Health Organisation.

Mr Trump has repeatedly threatened to eliminate American funding for the group, while blaming China for the spread of the coronavirus and the economic impact it has had on the global economy.

“China has total control over the World Health Organisation despite only paying $40 million per year compared to what the United States has been paying which is approximately $450 million a year,” he said at the weekend.

The latest evidence through the AP investigation shows how WHO officials struggled to get accurate and timely information from China as far back as January.

AP found China had researched the mysterious illness but refused to give the genetic map of the coronavirus until it was leaked to a virologist website.

Fearing a repeat of the SARS outbreak, WHO’s chief of emergencies Michael Ryan, told colleagues in the second week of January that it was time to “shift gears” and apply greater pressure on China for the release of information.

“This is exactly the same scenario, endlessly trying to get updates from China about what was going on,” WHO’s chief of emergencies Michael Ryan could be heard saying in the leaked recordings.

“WHO barely got out of that one with its neck intact given the issues that arose around transparency in southern China.”

confusion at WHO...

There's been all sorts of confusion this week, after a top expert at the World Health Organization seemed to suggest that people without COVID-19 symptoms rarely transmit the virus.

The statement caused head scratching among experts, as asymptomatic transmission - that's giving the virus to someone when you don't have symptoms - is known to occur.

The WHO has since clarified the statements saying they were "misunderstandings".

So what happened and what could it mean for the WHO's reputation?

Coronacast is a daily podcast that answers your coronavirus questions.

who's who?....

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration has formally notified the United Nations that the United States will withdraw from the World Health Organization, a move that would cut off one of the largest sources of funding from the premier global health organization in the middle of a pandemic.

“The United States’ notice of withdrawal, effective July 6, 2021, has been submitted to the U.N. secretary general, who is the depository for the W.H.O.,” a senior administration official said on Tuesday.

The departure would take effect sometime next year, should the United States meet established conditions of giving a one-year notice and fulfilling its current financial obligations, Stéphane Dujarric, a spokesman for the secretary general, António Guterres, said on Tuesday.

The notification completes a threat that President Trump began making months ago, as the death toll from the coronavirus in the United States mounted and Mr. Trump sought to blame the Chinese government for not doing enough to stop the spread of the disease. Mr. Trump has accused Beijing of hiding the true scope of infections from the W.H.O., targeting the agency in the process.

“The world is now suffering as a result of the malfeasance of the Chinese government,” Mr. Trump said in May, when he first said the United States would withdraw from the organization.

the US is out...

The U.S. has officially submitted a notice of withdrawal from the World Health Organization — effective July 6, 2021 — to the UN Secretary-General, according to a senior administration official.

The Trump White House and the international health body have been at odds for months over the US-19 handling of COVID-19 and the WHO’s relationship with China.

The move comes months after Trump began calling out the organization for its ties to China — it took until last week for the WHO to admit they first heard of the virus in December from the US and that China never self-reported

Trump wrote a letter to the WHO calling for it to show independence from China in May and discussed leaving the body all together for months if it didn’t make serious changes — it appears the revisions weren’t made in time.

The withdrawing period will take place over the next year with the US fully removed by July 6, 2021.
