a fable by la fontaine versus nature...

the ants and the cicada

Once, when winter came, a cicada that was starving came to the door of an anthill asking for food. At his request the ants responded, asking the following question:

- Why during the summer did you not make your food reservation as we did?

The cicada replied:

- I was singing happily all the time, and enjoying the summer fully If I had known how hard winter is ...!

The ants said:

-While we worked hard during the summer to have the provisions and be able to spend the winter, you enjoyed and you lost time. So now ... keep dancing!

But the ants felt sorry for the situation and understood that the cicada had learned the lesson, so they finally shared their food with her.

Moraleja: Those who want to have a good winter, while they are young, should take advantage of time.

Unfortunately, NO cicada makes it to winter... Once emerged from the ground, they have a few weeks to live...

The periodical cicadas of North America spend 13 or 17 years underground. In contrast to that of the nymph, the life of adult cicadas is very short, lasting only a few weeks. After mating, the adult female cicada lays its eggs.

And dies...

Coronavirus: Empty streets and squares amid Germany's second lockdown

Deserted Kurfürstendamm

Usually, Berlin's famous Kurfürstendamm boulevard is among the capital's busiest shopping streets, bustling with locals and tourists alike — especially during the Christmas season. Australia's billionaires became 50% richer during pandemic

Combined wealth rises by 52.4% in the past year – ‘turbocharging’ inequality

The combined wealth of Australian billionaires has risen by more than 50% over the past year, new figures show, prompting concerns that the pandemic-triggered recession has “turbocharged” the gap between rich and poor.

The combined net worth of Australia’s billionaires dropped in March – when Covid-19 restrictions ramped up – before rebounding strongly and increasing throughout the course of the year, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

The combined worth of Australian billionaires was assessed to be 52.4% higher this week than at the same time last December.

By comparison, billionaires in the US and UK recorded an increase of about 25% over the same period, the Bloomberg index shows.
