the picture show man .....

the picture show man .....

Oliver Stone, the Hollywood director known for his controversial movies about John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon, is less than six months away with his film about George W. Bush.

Filming of W starts this month and Stone has cast Josh Brolin, the actor who starred in the Oscar-winning film No Country for Old Men, as Mr Bush.

In one scene, a 26-year-old Mr Bush drives his car on to his parents' front lawn and drunkenly shouts insults at his father: "Thank you Mr Perfect. Mr War Hero. Mr F..king God-Almighty."

The film will show Mr Bush nicknaming his White House inner circle - Condoleezza Rice as "Guru", Karl Rove affectionately as "Turd-blossom" and Colin Powell as "Balloon Foot".

Robert Draper, author of Dead Certain: The Presidency of George W. Bush, who has read the script, said he believed that while the film was accurate, it did little to depict Mr Bush as anything beyond a caricature.

"The portrait is hyperbolised," he said. "It is accurate enough, but it doesn't get much further than portraying a man obsessed with sport, calling people nicknames and running the White House like a fraternity club."

Karl Rove was scheduled to testify before the House Judiciary Committee yesterday.

He didn't show. Not only that, the Committee was told that Rove had left the country on a "long scheduled" trip.
