bushed & bewidered .....

bushed & bewildered .....

from the Progressive Daily Beacon …..

This thing now (and maybe forever) known as Bush World just gets weirder and weirder, doesn't it?

With its last fading, ragged breaths the rabidly lunacidal Bush administration is busy raping, plundering and pillaging everything from the environmental regulations that keep poisons out of our water supply and out of our children's lungs, to literally stealing a trillion dollars of taxpayer money and reallocating it to banks that have moved their funds offshore to make it appear as though they are on the brink of collapse.

And, as if that and the entire past 8 years isn't enough to make a person's head explode, there is this bit of…er…"wisdom" for Barack Obama:

Peter Wehner, a former senior adviser to President Bush, warned that placing too much emphasis on pragmatism could leave the Obama team rudderless and without intellectual cohesion. "Pragmatism has its place, but there are limits, as well," said Wehner

This is how Merriam-Webster defines pragmatism:

·                     a practical approach to problems and affairs

·                     It makes sense then that a onetime "Loyal Bushie" would feel a certain animosity toward "pragmatism". After all, these are the people whose Sunday School Bible classes guided all their policies—both foreign and domestic. These are the people, who consider EVOLUTION mythological and virgin childbirth to be fact; and these are the people, who censored scientists and prevented them from reporting the truth regarding global warming; and these are the people, who tried to rip Terri Schiavo from her deathbed in order to score a few cheap political points; and these are the people, who rationalized torturing human beings; and these are the people, who pretended the Constitution didn't matter and illegally spied on innocent Americans. So, obviously, "pragmatism" — a practical approach — has never played a role in their "worldview".

By the way, "worldview," for those not in the know, is their super-duper secret verbal handshake way of saying, "Baby Jesus rode around on dinosaurs and every word in the bible is meant to be taken literally…er…except for those inconvenient bits that don't support the notion that Baby Jesus rode around on dinosaurs." Hence, when they use the term "worldview" to describe "other" peoples' perspectives—all their fundie (Christian fundamentalist) friends know that that person is an agent of the Devil.

So, yeah, no surprise that a Bush loyalist would warn Obama about the dangers of pragmatic governance. Those yahoos avoided pragmatism as if it were science-based fact. Still, that isn't the best part. This is:

Peter Wehner…[is] now a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center.

Get it? A fucking Bushie is "now a senior fellow" at an ethics and public policy institution! That is like Al Sharpton being made the Imperial Wizard of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. But, this is the sort of shit and the type of assholes, who pass for "experts" in today's corporate-owned media.
