policebashing

ONE of the state's most senior police officers has been forced to step aside from an investigation into the alleged police beating of a cricket fan after it emerged that the officer involved was his son.

When NSW Assistant Commissioner Mark Murdoch fronted television cameras on Friday, he defended the actions of an officer who was captured on video punching a cricket fan.

What he did not realise at the time was that the officer in question was his 24-year-old son, Thomas.

resisting arrest...

The incident took place in the Victor Trumper stand during the Big Bash limited overs match between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers on January 18.

The spectator allegedly first refused to leave the Sydney Cricket Ground when asked and then resisted arrest.

He was taken to Surry Hills police station where he was issued with a field court attendance notice for remaining within a licensed premises and resisting police.

Mr Murdoch told the Seven Network on Friday that "the video footage, in isolation, doesn't look great".

Apparently, one of the reasons the police did not use "pepper spray" to subdue the recalcitrant was to avoid other spetators being affected by the mist... but when one looks at the footage, the only spectators around were about four or five security officers an a couple more police holding the man pinned down while the police officer was punching... looks bad. Not clever...

I know of some instances when a "robber" was described by someone to the police as a young twenty something 5 foot six... and then the police stopped and hurled to ground a six-foot 65 year old instead... with bruises to boot... or similar... Sure the p'lice can make mistake in the "heat of the night" but sometimes, especially dealing with "drunks", one needs diplomacy and psychological skills to make then do what you want as their own idea...

appalling ....

Yes Gus, this is an appalling incident & just goes to show the kind of low-life that frequents the Bradman Stand these days ... when I caught a glimpse of the little fella, I actually thought for a brief, shining momement that it was your old favourite & mine, the one & only "rattus", but, disappointingly, that proved not to be the case.

This little cricket tragic should be shipped off to Guantanamo without a moment's delay Gus. It's an open & shut case ... everyone could see how he had cleverly gripped three security guards in order to resist eviction from the ground, but even though he had to use both arms to do this, he still managed to lunge forward repeatedly as he attempted to assault the poor defenceless Police Officer's fist with his face, try as hard as the Officer did to avoid contact. And whilst the Officer's attention was distracted, the little criminal apparently tried to grab his gun ... little shit!

Clearly there's a need for greater law & order Gus .... certainly the public are entitled to feel that they can venture out in their community without having to be worried about being attacked by these animals .... the little bastard should be publicly flogged before being put on the boat Gus & the Police Officer & all the Security Guards should be awarded bravery citations.

It's about time our Police, the brave protectors of our society, were authorised to shoot these little monsters on sight ... no questions asked Gus. How can they possibly "keep us safe" if they aren't allowed to protect themselves from such vicious criminals?

taser one, brazilian nil...

A Brazilian diplomat says New South Wales police have much explaining to do over the death of a student who was tasered on the weekend.

Roberto Laudisio has been named in the Brazilian press as the 21-year-old student who died in inner Sydney on Sunday morning.

The State Government has appointed the New South Wales Ombudsman to oversee the investigation into the death.

Mr Laudisio's family is flying to Sydney from Brazil and have told the ABC they are not commenting at this stage.

Before he died he had been chased by six police officers, sprayed with capsicum spray and tasered.

Mr Laudisio may have stolen a packet of biscuits from a convenience store shortly before and was reportedly not armed.

Police are not commenting while they investigate and have defended their use of stun guns.

What a ridiculous use of too much whatever force by the p'lice of NSW...Tasers should be banned...
