Labor's leadership issue must be resolved - but no one knows when or how.

Kevin Rudd was active on the Syrian crisis this week, reporting to Parliament and calling in that country's senior diplomat. But there was no press conference; nor did the Foreign Minister hit the airwaves.

Given Rudd's love of the limelight whenever there's a big story in his portfolio, this was pretty remarkable. Apart from when he was caught briefly by the media outside the parliamentary church service on Tuesday - when he failed to rule out a challenge - and when Julie Bishop questioned him each day in Parliament, he kept what was for him a low public profile all week. It wasn't all self-restraint - it is believed the Prime Minister's office did not want him out and about.

This is a very delicate time for Rudd. The first parliamentary week of 2012 has been better for Julia Gillard, but the leadership remains an open wound on Labor's body. The party knows the issue has yet to be resolved. Rudd's backers believe the best arguments they have for change are that the PM is irreparably on the nose in the electorate and she repeatedly missteps. Rudd has to wait for her to effectively collapse rather than being seen to push her.

Of course, leadership challenges proceed at various levels. Advocacy for Rudd goes on behind the scenes. And he is not entirely under wraps - tomorrow he will be out campaigning in Brisbane for the apparently doomed Bligh government.

On Monday the leadership story will be given another kick along with an ABC Four Corners profile of Rudd. Gillard has given an interview; Rudd hasn't (at least so far). Reportedly Con Sciacca, from an earlier Labor government, has given Rudd a strongly negative character reference. Whether the program will help or hinder the aspirant is yet to be seen.

Despite the assistance the Age/Nielsen poll gave Gillard, and her own feisty performance in Parliament, the Rudd forces expect the leadership to come to a crunch by mid-year. No one is clear about when or how: the theory is that it is a brittle situation that at some point will explode with a bang.

In campaigning in Queensland, Rudd runs the risk that his critics can link him to a state defeat. In one sense he has no choice: he has been close to Anna Bligh for years and had to help out. If he did nothing, it would reflect badly on him. Apart from that, he likes showing off his electioneering skills, although the campaign organisers in Queensland have made sure his activities are local.

Anyway, a Labor debacle in the north is far more dangerous for Gillard than for Rudd: the result would be interpreted as having a sizeable element of fed-bashing, and it would send the federal backbench into a panic. Whether it would focus caucus members' minds on the leadership sharply enough to bring the situation to a head quickly is the big question.

Gillard's fightback against the Rudd pressure depends in part on how well she can fight back against Tony Abbott. To do this, she is using the economic debate, and this week she has had some success in painting Abbott and his colleagues as flaky on the surplus.

The opposition at the 2010 election promised a 2012-13 $6 billion surplus. Its position now is that it is not committing to a surplus in its first term until much closer to the election when it sees the figures after what, by that time, could be two more budgets.

Given the economic uncertainty - to say nothing of the Coalition's difficulty juggling its promises and proposed savings - this stance, looked at objectively, can be seen as prudent. But the government has been able to cast the opposition as confused and not committed to a surplus. That is despite Gillard herself refusing on Wednesday to tie a re-elected government into a surplus - she just said there would be a 2012-13 surplus, and Labor was committed to running one over the economic cycle.

The Coalition regards the economy as its strong ground, so it is dangerous for it when its messages come across as muddled. It reinforces the government's claim that Abbott personally is weak on economics, that he is profligate with spending and vague on savings and, now, that he is not giving priority to a surplus.

The opposition's economic team, including Joe Hockey and Andrew Robb, is not sharp or clear enough. Yesterday, for example, Hockey sounded on the back foot when questioned by the ABC's Jon Faine over manufacturing.

It is obvious that the Coalition's economic strength could be boosted if Malcolm Turnbull were part of the team, and indeed if it also included former Howard chief of staff Arthur Sinodinos (the latter as, say, shadow assistant treasurer). But internal politics prevents the most rational line-up.

Gillard has responded to opposition attacks this week over the role of her office in the Australia Day fracas and the extraordinarily long Fair Work Australia inquiry into Craig Thomson by declaring these preoccupations show the Coalition's priorities are not the economy and jobs.

But the opposition was undeterred yesterday, despite the risk of looking off the (economic) pace - which suggests it may think that throwing anything that might discredit Gillard is worth some cost in its own image.

It's unlikely that the Coalition's below-par performance will fundamentally change the public's view of Gillard. But if Labor changed leaders and did get a bounce, a lot more attention would come, publicly and from within, on the opposition's weak points.

The Waiting Game Goes On

Below is an example of censorship by The Age newspaper, Melbourne, of non-anonymous, credentialled reader comments referring to an excellent article by outstanding expatriate Australian journalist John Pilger in Green Left Weekly (“Threat to Assange a threat to us all": http://www.greenleft.org.au/node/49948 )  and an excellent article by outstanding anti-racist Jewish Australian writer Antony Loewenstein (“Does the Zionist Lobby have blood on its hands in Australia?": http://antonyloewenstein.com/2010/07/02/does-the-zionist-lobby-have-blood-on-its-hands-in-australia/ ).  

By way of background, conservative Labor leader Kevin Rudd had been elected PM of Australia in a huge election victory in November  2007 but in 2010 was subject to a huge campaign from the mainly foreign-owned Mining industry over a proposed Mining Tax, encountered fierce opposition from the Zionist Lobby over his timid objections to Israeli state terrorism violating  Australian rights, and was finally deposed in a pro-Zionist-led Coup in June 2010 and replaced as PM by pro-Mining, pro-coal, pro-gas, pro-war, pro-US, pro-Zionist hard-liner Julia Gillard. However Kevin Rudd  remains vastly more popular than Julia Gillard who has seriously lost public credibility and public support, and there is considerable speculation  about a Rudd comeback.

It should be noted that the reformist Whitlam Labor Government (1972-1975), despite being elected in successive elections, was deposed by a governor–general with CIA links. Whitlam had promised to pull Australian troops out of Vietnam and wanted greater say over US bases in Australia . In 2004 the Labor leader Mark Latham was publicly vetoed mid-election by the US Ambassador for promising to bring Australian troops back from Iraq . Now it appears from WikiLeaks that PM Kevin Rudd fell foul of the US for suggesting the possibility of bringing Australian troops back from Afghanistan , in addition to falling foul of the racist Zionists  for giving Apartheid Israel a gentle slap on the wrist for forging Australian passports for terrorist purposes and violently kidnapping Australian citizens in international waters. The Labor Government had tried to mend fences with the powerful Israel Lobby and in 2010 signed a $349 million defence contract that put racist Zionists at the heart of Australia's defence (see “Activist questions contract”, Sydney Morning Herald, 27 October 2010: http://www.smh.com.au/national/activist-questions-contract-20101026-172eo.html  ) but it was to no avail and it was curtains for popularly-elected PM Rudd who had been elected in 2007 in a landslide victory dubbed a “Rudd-slide”.

Pro-war, pro-fossil fuels, pro-US, pro-Zionist PM Gillard has publicly supported more war in Afghanistan, approved more Planet-killing coal exports, publicly supported a policy of “all the way with the USA”, permitted the permanent stationing of 2,500 child-killing US Marines in Darwin and recently approved recruitment of US Alliance soldiers for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) with the promise of Australian citizenship for such personnel  - presumably US, UK and possibly Apartheid Israeli personnel - who have been involved in the Zionist-backed, US-imposed Muslim Holocaust and Muslim Genocide. The Muslim Holocaust  has been associated with 12 million Muslim war-related violent deaths and avoidable deaths from war-imposed deprivation since 1990, the breakdown being 4.6 million (Iraq, 1990-2011), 2.2 million (Somalia, 1992-2012), 0.2 million  (Palestine, 1990-2012), 50,000 (Libya, 2011-2012) and 5.6 million (Afghanistan, 2001-2012) (for the shocking details see “Muslim Holocaust, Muslim Genocide: https://sites.google.com/site/muslimholocaustmuslimgenocide/ ).

On 10 February 2012 The Age newspaper, Melbourne published an article by its political editor Michelle Grattan about the continuing ex-PM Kevin Rudd versus PM Julia Gillard affair and entitled “The waiting game goes on” (see: http://www.theage.com.au/opinion/politics/the-waiting-game-goes-on-20120209-1rwhc.html  ). The Age completely censored my following  non-anonymous submitted comment on the article,  presumably on the basis that it contains material The Age  does not want its readers to read, know or think about:

“There is much more to the Rudd resurrection than just the fortunes of the neocon Australian Labor Party (Another Liberal Party, an Alternative Liberal Party) - it gives  decent patriotic Australians an opportunity to decide whether Australia is for Australians  or is simply a plaything of (1) the Mining lobby , (2) the Americans and/or (3) the Zionist Lobby.

1. It was reported by the Australian Electoral Commission and thence The Age that the campaign by the mostly foreign-owned Mining Industry  that ousted PM Kevin Rudd and almost removed Labor from office had cost a mere $23 million.

Conclusions.

As illustrated by the resolute refusal of Australian Mainstream media to report the actual history of the US- and Zionist-backed anti-Rudd Coup, Australia is in thrall to foreign-owned mining companies, the endlessly subversive neocon Americans and the racist Zionist Lobby. What is happening in Australia is symptomatic of neo-fascist corporate, neocon American and racist Zionist perversion and subversion of the Western democracies  that have become neo-fascist, corporatist Murdochracies (Big Money buys public perception and votes) and Lobbyocracies (Big Money buys politicians, parties, policies  and elections).

What can decent , anti-war, anti-racism, pro-equity, pro-democracy people do? Decent folk – the 99% - must (a) inform everyone they can about the perversion of our democracy; (b) urge and apply sanctions and boycotts against corporations, countries, politicians and indeed all people complicit in such perversion; (c) demand, as did John Kennedy and Robert Kennedy,  that traitorous racist Zionists are registered as agents of a foreign power; and (d)  urge the sidelining  of racist Zionists and their supporters from public life as have been like racists such as the Nazis, neo-Nazis, Apartheiders and the KKK.

In US- and Zionist-beholden Australia, for example, that means a boycott of all Mainstream media and that decent folk should vote 1 Green and put Labor last until it returns to decent values and ceases being an anti-Arab anti-Semitic and anti-Jewish anti-Semitic tool of the Neocon Americans and Zionist Imperialists  (NAZIs) who currently hold sway Downunder (see “ Lib-Lab Apartheid Australia Supports Demonstrator-killing Racist Zionist-Run Apartheid Israel ”: http://www.countercurrents.org/polya080611.htm ). Professor Niels Harrit is a distinguished Danish chemist  from the Department of Chemistry, University of Copenhagen, who with his  international colleagues found compelling chemical physics-based evidence for unexploded nano-thermite high explosive in all samples of the World Trade Center (WTC)  dust examined, this in turn providing compelling evidence for explosive demolition of the 3 WTC buildings (the Twin Towers and WTC7) and hence for US Government involvement in the 9-11 atrocity  (see Niels H. However a BBC Search for “niels harrit” yields zero (0) results and an ABC Search for the phrase “neils harrit” only yields 1 relevant result as compared to a Google Search result of 244,000 URLs. This solitary  ABC article does not itself refer to Niels Harrit but this distinguished Danish scientist is mentioned in its comment thread by one of numerous listeners  (Max on 16 April 2010 at 4.56 pm) commenting on this ABC Radio National program called Counterpoint on which the ABC and Clive Williams (Adjunct Professor at the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre, Australian National University) criticized theories other than the “official story” for what happened on 9-11 (see “Terrorism and conspiracy theories”, Radio National, Counterpoint, 12 April 2010: http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/counterpoint/terrorism-and-conspiracy-theories/3039360).

Below is a summary from a peer-reviewed, international  chemical physics journal of what the Neocon American and Zionist Imperialist  (NAZI)-perverted BBC and the Neocon American and Zionist Imperialist  (NAZI)-perverted ABC do not want their audiences to see, know about or think about.

Professor Niels Harrit and colleagues in a scientific paper in a peer-reviewed journal re discovery of unexploded nanothermite in all World Trade Center (WTC) dust samples studied (2009) : “We have discovered distinctive red/gray chips in all the samples we have studied of the dust produced by the destruction of the World Trade Center. Examination of four of these samples, collected from separate sites, is reported in this paper. These red/gray chips show marked similarities in all four samples. One sample was collected by a Manhattan resident about ten minutes after the collapse of the second WTC Tower , two the next day, and a fourth about a week later. The properties of these chips were analyzed using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (XEDS), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The red material contains grains approximately 100 nm across which are largely iron oxide, while aluminum is contained in tiny plate-like structures. Separation of components using methyl ethyl ketone demonstrated that elemental aluminum is present. The iron oxide and aluminum are intimately mixed in the red material. When ignited in a DSC device the chips exhibit large but narrow exotherms occurring at approximately 430 °C, far below the normal ignition temperature for conventional thermite. Numerous iron-rich spheres are clearly observed in the residue following the ignition of these peculiar red/gray chips. The red portion of these chips is found to be an unreacted thermitic material and highly energetic… having observed unignited thermitic material in the WTC residue, we suggest that other  energetic materials suitable for cutter charges or explosives should also be looked for in the WTC dust. NIST [National Institute of Standards and Technology] has admitted that they have not yet looked for such residues…  Based on these observations, we conclude that the red layer of the red/gray chips we have discovered in the WTC dust is active, unreacted thermitic material, incorporating nanotechnolgy, and is a highly energetic pyrotechnic or explosive material.” (Niels H. William Joyce (Lord Haw Haw) was hanged for collaborating with the Nazis as a journalist during World War 2. However no civilized people would suggest the same punishment for the so-called journalists of the BBC and the ABC who are variously complicit in the atrocities of the US War on Muslims (about 12 million war-related violent deaths and avoidable deaths from war-imposed deprivation since 1990; about 9 million such Muslim deaths since 9-11 in the US War on Terror; for the shocking details not reported by the BBC and the ABC see “Muslim Holocaust, Muslim Genocide”: https://sites.google.com/site/muslimholocaustmuslimgenocide/). However these genocide-ignoring and genocide-complicit BBC and ABC journalists  should be brought to account and a humane course of action simply involving expert exposure of their crimes is suggested by Dr Mahathir Mohamad (former PM of Malaysia and responsible for an under-5 year old infant mortality rate of 6 deaths per 1,000 births in Malaysia as compared to 5 and 8 in the UK and US, respectively; see WHO: http://www.who.int/countries/en/).

Dr Mahathir suggested a non-government, non-UN war crimes tribunal of eminent World citizens (akin to the War Crimes Tribunal on Iraq that included brilliant, humanitarian Indian writer Arundhati Roy), as reported by the Perdana Global Peace Organization: "The former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad hosted the conference and won applause yesterday for calling for the leaders to be tried by an unofficial tribunal for war crimes in Iraq. He said the war had caused more terror than al-Qaeda."We should not hang Blair if the tribunal finds him guilty, but he should always carry the label 'War Criminal, Killer of Children, Liar'," said Dr Mahathir in a speech illustrated by pictures of wounded children, deformed babies and tortured men. "And so should Bush and the pocket Bush of the Bushland of Australia," he said, referring to the Australian Prime Minister, John Howard." Holocaust-ignoring is far, far worse than repugnant holocaust denial because the latter at least admits the possibility of public discussion. One notes that holocaust denial in relation to the WW2 Jewish Holocaust (5-6 million dead, 1 in 6 dying from deprivation, 1941-1945) has been criminalized in some European countries, of which some have extended custodial punishment of holocaust denial to denial of the Armenian Genocide (1.5 million killed, 1915-1923).  Freedom of speech and freedom of scholarly inquiry argue against custodial or financial penalties for holocaust denial – the punishment should simply be the disgrace of public exposure. Holocaust-ignoring, holocaust-complicit, genocide-ignoring and genocide-complicit BBC and ABC journalists should be brought to account and punished simply by the ignominy of public exposure of the truth they are suppressing, ideally by a distinguished, authoritative, international Truth Commission.
