the bad monkeys are winning...

capucins

Merkel, he said, was ''intellectually limited and she is taking the whole world down''. Gillard's government, he said, ''just don't have a convincing and persuasive narrative''.
And Abbott? He was ''dumb'', an ''obstructionist capuchin'' (that's either a small monkey or a member of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, depending on how you view Keating's sense of humour) and: ''If the public takes him they will get a large kick in the bum and they will deserve it.''

I have taken the liberty to add characters to the Keating's comment...

the smell of sub-text...

Mr Abbott says he has known Senator Fisher for a very long time, and acknowledges she has been wrestling with some "personal issues".

"This is a tragic personal situation - she's done the gutsy thing in difficult circumstances," Mr Abbott has told Channel Nine.

"She's done the honourable and the courageous thing by herself, her family and the Parliament by resigning.

"I think the best thing we can do now is wish Mary Jo all the best as she puts her life back together again."

The subtext here is that Abbott is only waiting for Slipper and Thomson to do the same "honorable and courageous thing"... and the planet of the apes would be his to claim... But Slipper and Thomson don't have too... They have not been charged of anything yet... and the more one looks at these two cases, the more one smell the sulphur from a couple of Liberal conspiracies...

From his ever-changing small business pulpit,  the Petulant Priest expounds incessantly about the end of the world, but how much credibility does he have? According to Denise Allen, absolutely none.

He sounds like a politician...

Listening to John Alexander fluffy double-talk on the great health Tennis Australia is  — after a complete rout at Wimbledon first rounds — sounded like listening to a politician...

Er... He is a politician. He once fought on the courts with a wooden racket strung with catgut, but since then he has learn the trade of telling porkies with aplomb, which gives him the allure of sounding right... He's got no idea, has he?...

Mr Speaker, is it appropriate to ask you a question at this point, or should that be done later?

Under a strict interpretation of the standing orders, a dog had barked and the caravan had moved on, but, given the circumstances, if the member for Ryan has a question to me, I am a risk taker and will take the question.

Mr Speaker, would you please advise or make appropriate inquiries as to whether the Tennis Australia event held yesterday evening at Parliament House was a government funded event or a Labor Party funded event? If it was a government funded event, were representatives of Tennis Australia explicitly requested not to mention the event to members of the coalition? I ask this because, when I stopped to greet some of my friends from Tennis Australia, a staff member of the Minister for Small Business asked me to leave, as it was 'an ALP function'.

I will take the question on notice. I am not sure that it is within my province, but there is sufficient spin on the serve to allow me to attempt to hit it. I will get back to the member for Ryan—she has obviously been taking very close advice from her neighbour, whose serve I would not have seen at all if he had served one up to me!

I believe Rattus did the same...

and SPONSORS (from a website run by than man who should resign from the ABC for working for Murdoch as well...)...

SW: Well, not really. I mean Garnier L’Oreal was a much larger sponsor than Qantas. GE Money were also of an equal stature to Garnier and they were our two associate sponsors and both of them were unable to continue. Likewise with Mastercard and Qantas as well, so it was a very challenging time and one of our long term sponsors Aviva got sold to MLC and our portfolio was moving around significantly and we were concerned that that might have a flow on effect to corporate hospitality, into ticket sales, merchandise sales, into our sports betting business and that that was a sign of things to come.

But fortunately we found that given the strength of our brand and the global reach that the Australian Open has, meant that some of the existing sponsors who had been only afforded certain rights were willing to step up and fill the void left by these other sponsors. What that meant was Rolex, Jacob’s Creek, who’s been with us for three years, Rolex has been with us for two, were willing to step up and become associate sponsors and when you marry that with ANZ who have a very similar strategy to us as the Grand Slam of Asia Pacific - they are looking to be sort of the bank of Asia Pacific – we saw a brand fit there. We were most pleased to be able to I guess refill the void left by a number of our sponsors unable to renew who were affected by the global financial crisis.

SA: Now, as the crisis has eased have you seen attitudes change towards sponsorship?

SW: Yes. I have. We just recently signed V Australia and that is a great accolade for both companies to be able to strike a partnership so close to the Australian Open because generally the sponsors like to sign well in advance, so that they can make their activation plans operate the best and we’ve seen that in V Australia. We recently signed with Pure Cussons and just in the last 30 days also Panasonic, so we’ve seen that some of the sponsorships have not only been refilled earlier in the year which was gratifying to show the strength of our brand, but also late in the year I guess a resurgence in the interest in sponsorship. But the key measure of the resurgence is not really in sponsorship, it’s in ticket sales and in particular corporate hospitality.
