today's news, from god's planetoid...

The heading on Christian Post today is ridiculously funny:
San Diego Megachurch Pastor Interviews NFL's Danny Woodhead on Surrendering to God

I don't know why I laughed... It seems innocuous enough but the term Megachurch always sounds to me like an inflated device for bouncing upon at school fetes and of course surrendering to god is essential in playing football games — for a player called Woodhead (a notch above boofhead, who knows?). Who is the comedian who wrote the line? We all know that San Diego was named after a Spanish monk whose body was rumoured to have remained intact after death, did not undergo rigor mortis and continued to emit a pleasant odour. Wow... Surrendering to this kind of miracle is the way to go when playing football.

Meanwhile as June fourth approaches, police in Washington, D.C. have blocked evangelist Ray Comfort and his team from giving away $25,000 in Subway gift cards to atheists at the upcoming Reason Rally (June fourth), and even threatened arrests of those who approach rally attendees. Who wants Subway gift cards anyway? Is Subway making religious longfooters? So Comfort will comfort the homeless by giving the free cards to the homeless, possibly a couple of former lobbyists, of Washington.

The Reason Rally was supposed to have Johnny Depp as a speaker but since having had a divorce slammed on him by his wife, Amber, he won't appear at the rally. This could indicate to our tomato sauceface, second in charge of Australia, Barnaby, that god really exists, contrarily to the premise of the Reason Rally which promises a romp of secular, atheist, agnostic, humanist, freethinking, and non-religious dancing. Here we cannot mention atheists without having a note from Ken Ham, considering that ham products were removed from Subway...

Young Earth Creationist Ken Ham is speaking out against the upcoming "Reason Rally" at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., which is being advertised as "the world's largest atheist party," by stating that atheists will be worshipping man [and the stars apparently] in their "anti-God religion."

Ken Ham is not a lamb chop, but he acts like one. Atheists can have degenerate parties, but not church assemblies, thus cannot be deemed religious. This is why Old Earth creationists and the scientific community have emphatically and repeatedly criticised Ham and young-earth creationism. Seriously, Answers in Creation, an old Earth creationist website, has called Ham wilfully ignorant of evidence for an old Earth, and said that he "deliberately misleads" his audiences on matters of both science and theology. So there, evolution excluded.

Of course, atheist author Richard Dawkins has suggested that he would be ready to convert to a religion if someone shows him evidence for why he should believe, but argued that so far, no one has been able to do that.

Not that they're not trying.

On that other religion, war, it remains unclear if the Obama administration will hold a tranche of cluster bombs poised for shipment to Saudi Arabia, or simply all future requests. The United States concluded a contract for the manufacture of 1,300 CBU-105 weapons to Saudi Arabia in 2013. The final shipment of such weapons can take years to complete, but U.S. officials have repeatedly refused to clarify if the order’s final tranche was delivered.

And "Fake Humanitarians" as well as "Fake Leftists" are taking Canada down the wrong path as they can be either bought or convinced through incredible naivété, warped political outlook, or Eurocentric arrogance, that the motives of Empire (the US Empire) are good, especially in creating zwietracht (shitty nasty "discord") in Syria and the rest of the world.

Not on this site, cobber.

Rubio, the catholic mormon, has today (or yesterday) apologised to Trump the evangelical for having mentioned the size of trump's manhood in a political religious debate.

But at least, Russian President Vladimir Putin paid a visit to Greece's Mount Athos, an autonomous polity and a centre of Eastern Orthodox monasticism. The Cyrillic alphabet and Orthodox Christianity have long bound the two nations.
Welcomed like a superstar claimed one website.

I nearly forgot to mention that Erdogan, the Turkish dictator and friend of ISIS, told muslims to breed like rabbits. None of that contraception rubbish...

The pope is still battling with his cardinals on finding ways to clean up the Vatican's finances...

This was the round of religious news for today, 31st May 2016, a day like all the others. You can find the links for yourselves.

The Doré image extract above illustrates a bible bedside (if you're not squeamish) story — king David saved by Abishai... after feeling faint.

Atheistically yours
Old Gus.

god's rabbits...

No Muslim family should engage in birth control or family planning, Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday, calling again on pious Muslims to have more children.

“We will multiply our descendants. They talk about population planning, birth control. No Muslim family can have such an approach,” he said in a speech in Istanbul broadcast live on television.

“Nobody can interfere in God’s work. The first duty here belongs to mothers,” he said.

Women’s groups and opposition politicians have criticised Mr Erdogan, a devout Muslim, for telling women how many children to have and dismissing the western idea of gender equality. He has previously equated birth control with treason.
