pipa the (gay) pig or masha the russian bear?...

trotterstrotters

Yet I have sat with four children in a row on my knee watching this cartoon entirely oblivious to a scintilla of politics of any kind being spread.

Unlike Masha and the Bear's Western equivalents.

When I was my children's age, I endured a daily diet of comic heroes flying straight out of the Western imperialist's camp (and lived to tell the tale).

There was Biggles, an imperialist airman, and there was the Englishman the Wolf of Kabul (and his Neanderthal Afghan guide “clicky ba” – so called because he smote the Englishman's foolish enemies with a cricket-bat). There was the urbane Lone Ranger and his long-suffering savage Uncle Tom – Tonto. There was Tin-Tin.

But soaring above them all, there was “Superman”, of course. “For Truth Justice and the American Way,” he strained every sinew (how differently things could have turned out if the baby Superman had landed on the steppes instead of the American prairie – and put his formidable shoulder into helping Stalin build Socialism!)

In a decade I have never heard either Masha or her Bear say a single word about “the Russian Way.” I have never seen either belittle, humiliate, orientalize or patronize a single native, anywhere. I have never heard either proselytize for empire, for racial supremacy or for their country's right to subjugate others. It’s all been just good clean fun. But perhaps I just don't have the eye for the subliminal method.

But some do.

Masha and the Bear has billions of views on YouTube and more than 4 million subscribers and few really knew that President Putin was behind them. Why the fiendish “Kremlin” according to my Sunday newspaper has "ramped up" its propaganda efforts by branching into Spanish! And going on to Netflix!

freeing people by killing them...

“THE ART OF WAR”

From 1945 until today - 20 to 30 million people killed by the USA

by Manlio Dinucci

It’s a fact, not an analysis, not even an opinion – the « free and open international order» promoted since 1945 by the United States has cost the lives of 20 to 30 million people throughout the world. No President, whoever he may be, has managed to slow the rhythm of this killing machine.

In the summary of its last strategic document - 2018 National Defense Strategy of the United States of America (of which the entire text is classified) - the Pentagon claims that « after the Second World War, the United States and their allies installed a « free and open international order in order to safeguard the freedom of the people from aggression and coercion », but that « this order is presently undermined by Russia and China, who are violating the principles and rules of international relations ». This is a total reversal of historical reality.

Professor Michel Chossudovsky, director of the Center for Research on Globalization, reminds us that these two countries, listed today as enemies, are those which, when they were allied with the United States during the Second World War, paid the victory over the Nazi-fascist Axis Berlin-Rome-Tokyo with the greatest price in human lives – approximately 26 million from the Soviet Union and 20 million from China, compared with a little more than 400,000 from the United States.

With this preliminary, Chossudovsky introduces to Global Research a documented study by James A. Lucas on the number of people killed by the uninterrupted series of wars, coups d’État and other subversive operations executed by the United States from the end of the War in 1945 until now – a number estimated at 20 to 30 million victims [1]. Approximately twice the number of deaths from the First World War, the centenary of the end of which has just been celebrated in Paris with a Peace Forum.

Apart from the deaths, there are the wounded, who very often find themselves crippled for life – some experts calculate that for every person killed in war, ten others are wounded. This means that the number of people wounded by US wars should be counted in the hundreds of millions.

To this estimation in the study we must add a non-quantified number of dead, probably hundreds of millions, which have been caused, from 1945 until today, by the indirect effects of wars - famine, epidemics, forced migrations, slavery and exploitation, environmental damage, subtraction of resources from vital needs in order to cover military expenditure.

The study documents the wars and coups d’État executed by the United States in 30 Asian, African, European and Latin-American countries. It reveals that US military forces are directly responsible for between 10 and 15 million deaths, caused by the major wars – those against Korea and Vietnam and the two wars against Iraq. Between 10 and 14 million other deaths have been caused by the proxy wars waged by the allied armed forces trained and commanded by the USA in Afghanistan, Angola, Congo, Sudan, Guatemala and other countries.

The Vietnam War, which spread to Cambodia and Laos, caused a number of deaths estimated at 7.8 million (plus a huge number of wounded, and genetic damage affecting generations due to the dioxin sprayed by US aircraft).

The proxy war of the 1980’s in Afghanistan was organised by the CIA, which trained and armed – with the collaboration of Oussama ben Laden and Pakistan – more than 100,000 mujahideen to fight the Soviet troops who had fallen into the « Afghan trap » (as it was later described by Zbigniew Brzezinski, specifying that the training of the mujahideen had begun in July 1979, five months before the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan).

The bloodiest coup d’État was organised in 1965 in Indonesia by the CIA – it handed over the list of the first 5,000 Communists and others marked for death to the Indonesian murder squads. The number of people assassinated is estimated at between 500,000 and 3 million.

That is the « free and open international order » that the United States, independently of the White House, persist in pursuing in order to « safeguard the people from aggression and coercion ».

Have you ever heard of "pig play"? No, it's not when someone has sex with a pig and no, it's not when two (or more) people dress up as pigs and have sex.

"Pig play" is an umbrella term used by some members of the gay community. It has varying definitions depending on who you ask but it generally involves sexual activity that emphasizes and embraces things like spit, urine, feces, sweat, ejaculate and sometimes other various kinds of kink.

In the latest episode of HuffPost's Love+Sex Podcast, co-hosts Carina Kolodny and Noah Michelson tackle the following question from a listener:

"Is 'pig play' something only gay men engage in? Or do straight people like 'pig play' too?"

To help answer this question -- and a slew of others sent in by Love+Sex listeners like "Do I need to have a dick pic if I'm going to try dating on Grindr?" and "How do lesbians have sex?" -- Kolodny and Michelson welcomed Dr. Zhana Vrangalova, a sex expert and professor at New York University, to their "Ask Us Anything" episode of the podcast...

interfering in the internal affairs of other countries...

Anonymous has published a trove of materials on 'Integrity Initiative', a UK government-funded program which claims to focus on "counteracting Russian propaganda." In reality, the hactivist group found, the program is aimed at interfering in the internal affairs of other countries. Sputnik studied the revelations as they relate to Russia.

The stated purpose of Integrity Initiative is to "counter Russian disinformation and malign influence by "harnessing existing expertise" and "establishing a network of experts, opinion formers and policy makers to educate national audiences in the threat and to help build national capacities to counter it." NATO's Political and Partnerships Committee is given an important role in coordinating the program.

The "network" is grounded in British embassies (see list of names and contact details below). To take part in the project, interested persons are encouraged to fill in an application form and describe what kind of role they can play in discrediting "Russian propaganda." Approved candidates receive funding.

To "counteract" Russia in the information space, Integrity Initiative seeks to use all the means of mass communication available, with a special focus on social media and instant messengers, which allows them to broadcast their message to their target audience in Russia, and just as importantly, to recruit supporters.

One of the project's main tasks is to find like-minded individuals, particularly among the country's pro-western opposition politicians. The latter are then able to use their own political weight to "explain" to their fellow citizens that, for example, everything that the Russian government and media have to say about the conflict in Ukraine, or the Skripal case, or the false flag chemical attacks in Syria, is false. The project pins a special hope on finding willing supporters among Muscovites, seeing them as the most "intelligent" audience to accept the anti-Kremlin narrative.

retaliation...

The BBC has written to Russian authorities to express concern about the safety of its staff in Moscow after it emerged that the details of dozens of the broadcasters’ journalists had been published online in apparent retaliation to the publication in the Sunday Times of eight Edinburgh-based Sputnik reporters’ details.

Its World Service director said the safety of its staff in Moscow was the BBC’s “overriding concern”, and stressed that the broadcaster had always acted “in full compliance” with Russian law.

“The BBC has asked the Russian authorities to investigate this worrying development,” Jamie Angus said. “The welfare and security of our staff in Moscow is our overriding concern.

russia to "hack your democracy "...

‘Masha and the Bear,’ the Russian cartoon with an immense following across the world, is expanding its reach. Now, its tiny protagonist is going to teach your kids to sing your country's favorite song… with a Russian twist.

If you are only expecting Russians to breach your borders, hack your democracy and set your neighbors against each other, you are not vigilant enough. Your own children could be the Kremlin’s next sleeper agents – beware ‘Masha and the Bear,’ a kids’ cartoon the London Times deems worthy of being called "propaganda for Putin" is launching its latest season – and it’s coming for your songs.

The mischievous little girl Masha and her blatantly Russian BFF Bear are coming to a screen near YOU in more ways than one: this fourth season is themed around travel, so in every episode Masha “will perform a fun song to a tune of a well-known national melody,” the show’s creator says. Good luck getting your kid to memorize the proper lyrics to ‘Hey Jude’ or ‘Greensleeves.’

The season’s first episode is already out on YouTube (for now in Russian only), where the ‘toon’s channel has over 22 million subscribers. It takes the protagonists to Italy and includes a food-themed re-imagining of opera classic ‘La Donna e Mobile’ and ‘Santa Lucia.’ Enjoy.
