making the US better again and again...

Four years after 50 of the nation’s most senior Republican national security officials warned that Donald J. Trump “would be the most reckless president in American history,” they are back with a new letter, declaring his presidency worse than they had imagined and urging voters to support former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.

The new letter, released just hours before Mr. Biden formally accepts the nomination, lays out a 10-point indictment of Mr. Trump’s actions, accusing him of undermining the rule of law, aligning himself with dictators and engaging “in corrupt behavior that renders him unfit to serve as president.”

They also accused him of “spreading misinformation” and “undermining public health experts,” making him “unfit to lead during a national crisis.”

“When we wrote in 2016, we were warning against a vote for Donald Trump, but many of the signatories were not ready to embrace his opponent,” Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state, noted John Bellinger, a former legal adviser at the State Department and National Security Council who was among the authors of the past and current letters. “This is different: Each of the signatories has said he or she will vote for Biden. Signatories are now even more concerned about Trump, and have fewer concerns about Biden.”

Eric Edelman, a former senior Defense Department official under President George W. Bush, and a signatory to both the old and new letters, noted that the 2016 warnings were “a prospective judgment about Donald Trump’s fitness for office. Today the things that were cited in those letters have been vindicated by Trump’s actual performance.”

The result, he said, was that new Republican signatories joined — there are more than 70 in the new letter — people who “undoubtedly hoped that Trump would grow in office and would take the responsibilities of office seriously. He didn’t.”

For the Democratic National Convention, Mr. Biden has invited a series of Republicans to speak, most notably Colin L. Powell, the former secretary of state and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Democrats are betting that these cross-aisle endorsements may bring over moderate Republicans who may have supported Mr. Trump four years ago, but are struggling with whether they can vote for a Democrat.

“While some of us hold policy positions that differ from those of Joe Biden and his party, the time to debate those policy differences will come later,” the new letter says. “For now, it is imperative that we stop Trump’s assault on our nation’s values and institutions and reinstate the moral foundations of our democracy.”

The letter was released by, an advocacy group created in 2018 by anti-Trump Republicans and conservatives. They are spending about $20 million to oppose him, the group says, including placing the full letter in an ad in The Wall Street Journal on Friday.

Among the signatories are former officials from the Reagan administration; others who served both George Bush and George W. Bush; and a few, like John Negroponte, the former director of national intelligence, and General Michael Hayden, who served as director of the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency and whose service extended over both Democratic and Republican administrations.

The letter also includes a handful of midlevel officials who served under Mr. Trump. But the list of signatories misses most of the biggest names in national security who entered the administration, only to be fired or resign. Among those missing are Rex Tillerson, the former secretary of state, and three former generals who served in high posts: John Kelly, the former chief of staff; H.R. McMaster, the former national security adviser; and Jim Mattis, the former defense secretary.

John R. Bolton, who was fired as national security adviser last year, has said publicly that he would not vote for Mr. Trump, but has refused to embrace Mr. Biden, saying he would write in a conservative Republican instead.

When the first letter was released in 2016, it had some shock value: No one could recall when established national security leaders had abandoned the party’s nominee. Today, the critiques sound more familiar, though the new letter picks through more than three years of international chaos to argue that Mr. Trump has “gravely damaged America’s role as a world leader” by mocking allies, and soliciting foreign influence in American elections.

As the most recent letter laid out, Mr. Trump “proclaimed his ‘love’ and ‘great respect’ for the North Korean strongman Kim Jong-un, endorsed ‘brilliant leader’ Xi Jinping’s move to serve as China’s president for life,” and “repeatedly sided with Vladimir Putin against our own intelligence community.”

Yet within the Republican national security establishment, there are arguments about whether such letters actually harm Mr. Trump or help him.

Peter Feaver, a veteran of the Clinton and Bush administrations, who helped draft several versions of the 2016 letter, decided not to sign the one released on Thursday.

“I don’t regret signing the 2016 letters, and I think the new letter is accurate in its critique of Trump’s performance,” Mr. Feaver, a professor at Duke University, said in an interview.

Mr Leonisky would like to apologise from having left the ideals of decent satire, to fall into the cesspit of hypocritical sarcasms...

Mr Leonisky would also like to apologise for saying that Obama and Biden wrecked the USA as well as a few small countries... Here the logic goes that had Obama and Biden been so great, then their heir, La Madam Clinton, would have got the gig and bombed a few countries, including Damascus... Instead, Obama's wonderful legacy created Trump-the-Savior of the USA, who would have managed to survive Russiagate, Ukrainegate, Racismgate but may not survive Covidgate... But who knows... As his former advertising campaign manager, Bannon, is charge for embezzlement, the wheels of Donald's fortune may have turned. He needs the evangelicals to pray harder.

president biden warns russia...

Joe Biden may be an uncertain election away from becoming president, but he’s already tweeting like one. Following an entirely predictable script, Biden demanded that Russia “be told not to interfere” in Belarus’ affairs.

“The brave citizens of Belarus are showing their voices will not be silenced by terror or torture,” Biden tweeted on Wednesday. “The U.S. should support Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's call for fair elections. Russia must be told not to interfere—this is not about geopolitics but the right to choose one’s leaders.”

His tweet comes nearly two weeks after Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko won re-election in a vote opponents say was fraudulent. Among those calling for fresh elections are Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who fled to Lithuania last week and is now demanding a rerun while pledging to “act as a national leader,” should Lukashenko’s win be nullified.

As for “choosing one’s leaders,” Washington and the EU have made it clear that they favor Tikhanovskaya, and have refused to accept Lukashenko’s supposed victory. EU leaders have agreed to impose targeted sanctions on the Belarusian authorities, while US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has called for increased political freedom in Belarus.

Moscow is alarmed by Western attempts to profit from Belarus’ internal difficulties and believes its neighbor should be left alone, according to Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who accused the EU of being driven by geopolitics.

Speaking to TV channel Russia-1, Lavrov called on Belarusians to sort out their own affairs and reject the notion of having to side with either Russia or the European Union. He added that members of the bloc weren’t genuinely interested in human rights or democracy, but, instead, a desire to pull Minsk into their orbit.

“We are concerned about [foreign] attempts to use the internal difficulties that Belarus, the Belarusian people, and the Belarusian leadership are currently facing,” said the foreign minister, highlighting that outside forces are attempting to interfere with the country in order to impose a situation that could be profitable for them, but not for Belarusians.

then god said...

President Donald Trump revealed he spoke to God about the economy amid the coronavirus pandemic and God told him He’s going to have him rebuild “the greatest economy in the history of the world” again.

Speaking at a small rally that attracted several hundred supporters in Mankato, Minnesota, Monday, Trump branded presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden as a "puppet of left-wing extremists" who would destroy the American way of life by "trying to erase our borders, eliminate our police, indoctrinate our children, vilify our heroes” and “take away our energy."

If Biden were to be elected, he would “replace American freedom with left-wing fascism,” Trump added.

The president hailed his pre-pandemic economic record which reflected a strong stock market, wage growth of about a 3% average and low unemployment as “nothing short of an economic miracle.”

With the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. economy suffered its biggest blow since the Great Depression in the second quarter as consumer and business spending plummeted, the World Economic Forum noted. Gross domestic product dipped at a 32.9% annualized rate last quarter, "the deepest decline in output since the government started keeping records in 1947," the WEC said.

"What we have achieved together and what we're doing together is nothing short of an economic miracle and now we're doing it again," Trump told his supporters. "We built the greatest economy in the history of the world and now I have to do it again."

He then revealed the conversation he had with God about the economic crisis.

"You know what that is? That's right. That's God testing me,” Trump explained. “He said, You know, you did it once. And I said, 'Did I do a great job, God? I'm the only one who could do it.' He said, ‘That you shouldn't say. Now we're going to have you do it again.' I said, 'OK. I agree. You got me.' But I did it once. And now I'm doing it again. And you see the kind of numbers that we're putting up. They're unbelievable. Best job numbers ever. Three months, more jobs in the last three months than ever before."

dead angels and a throne for grab...

In a Florida speech promoting The Atlantic’s anonymously-sourced story that Donald Trump called veterans “losers” and “suckers”, Joe Biden added more gaffes to his list, including mixing up Iran with Iraq.

Biden made the slip-up when holding up his daily schedule, which he said has daily updates on US troop deaths overseas.

"U.S. troops died in Iran and Afghanistan, 6,000, as of today, 923," the former vice president and ex-senator, who voted for the Iraq War, said. "Not roughly 6,900 — 923, because every one of these fallen angels left behind a family, left behind a community. There is an empty seat at that table now."

Meanwhile at the other Trump of thrones games....

US President Donald Trump claims a coronavirus vaccine could be three or four weeks away.

He is planning to make the same claim again in three or four weeks.

Trump has revealed the identity of the inventor of the vaccine – Dr RePhill, who studied at Buzzfeed and Breitbart.

When Trump was questioned on his authority to authorise such a vaccine he said, ‘Don’t panic, I know exactly where to stick it.”

Trump was contradicted by his broken ventriloquist dummy, the annoyingly accurate Anthony ‘Grouchy’ Fauci, who predicted that nothing can be predicted.

The new slogan for Trump’s campaign … America – The Vaxi-Nation.

Popstar Madonna is making a new movie of her life without mentioning the movies of her life.

The working title of the movie is ‘Like Aversion – Watched For The Very First Time’.

The film will not cover her unforgettable movies, such as that one with that guy from that other movie, and the one where she acts like Madonna acting in a movie.

Like John Malkovich in Being John Malkovich, Madonna will reveal that her life is a lot like being John Malkovich without the pressure of acting like she’s being John Malkovich.

Federal MP Barnaby Joyce has apologised for snipping a ribbon to unofficially open a bridge and his mouth.

The Mayor of Kyogle said she had been ‘inundated’ by an angry phone call.

Counsellors were shocked people took Joyce seriously for a change. One suggested Barnaby should use his scissors to cut the crap.

“It was tongue in cheek,” said Barnaby, tail between his legs.

A flock of seagulls claimed it’s no big deal. “We ‘christened’ the bridge months ago.”

For the rest of his political career, Mr Joyce promises to always be backed by the Benny Hill soundtrack. Insiders say he is planning his next official event, “Jumping the Gun Laws.”
