the blame game...

blamegame

The Federal Opposition has accused Prime Minister Julia Gillard of playing dangerous political games over the war in Afghanistan.

Ms Gillard's office invited Opposition Leader Tony Abbott to accompany her on her weekend trip to visit Australian troops in Afghanistan as a show of bipartisan support for the war effort.

The invitation came after a week in which the Opposition called for more men and materiel, including tanks, to be sent to bolster Australia's troops in the strife-torn country.

Mr Abbott says he chose not to go to Afghanistan because he did not want to be jetlagged for his visit to the Tory party conference in England, which will include a private meeting with British prime minister David Cameron.

Opposition frontbencher Joe Hockey told Sky News Mr Abbott had already arranged a trip to Afghanistan and Ms Gillard was playing silly games by issuing the invitation.

"If Julia Gillard is going to play these sorts of politics on Afghanistan she is not worthy of her role as Prime Minister," Mr Hockey said.

Whot a lotta crap!... Come on! As if John Rattus Howard never EVER politicize any $#@&% thing! He and all the other Liberals (CONservatives) should be in prison by now for war crimes for attacking Iraq without a) a proper declaration of war and b) for lying about the motives of war to the Australian people!!!

Joe! Dear Joe!!!!... If you talk crap like that you're not worth being a member of parliament! Julia playing political games? Bloddy hell! Your liar in chief, Abbott, got caught with his pants down exposing his lack of budgies and you blame Julia for it?

Joe, I had a soft spot for you, though, but now I think you're another one of them stupid Liberals, aren't you?

And F&%$#@ shame on the ABC to bring this as if what Joe said was gospel... CRAP!

Joe's more of an idiot that I EVER thought... a gentle overweight idiot, who knows... But he should apologise for what he said... Then I will apologise for presenting him as a loopy lardy idiot...

"her role"?...She is the *&^%$# Prime Minister!!!! No *&^%$#@ role about it!!!!!!!

barnaby gets it half-right!...

However, Nationals Senate Leader Barnaby Joyce told triple j's Hack program that Mr Abbott would now be regretting his decision.

"Sometimes you make a decision where a couple of days later you think you should have made a different one. That's called making a mistake, and all human beings make one of those," he said.

"Obviously he's said he's going to see the troops now he believes it's a mistake, and when someone makes a mistake they should fix it up and that's what he's doing and that's to be commended, not condemned."

Mr Abbott this morning said he intends to visit Afghanistan in the near future.

poor choice of truth...

The jet lag comment caused outrage and Mr Abbott acknowledged his ''poor choice of words''.

''The fact is that I will soon be visiting Afghanistan, the Prime Minister and her office have long known about this. I just think that the whole issue of Afghanistan should not politicised by anyone,'' he said.

Sources said Mr Abbott had requested a trip to Afghanistan soon after the election but there was a difference of opinion on whether a date had been locked in when Ms Gillard issued the invitation to accompany her.

Yesterday, the Prime Minister said there was no date locked in. ''Your suggestion that he had a fixed date to go when I issued the invitation to him is not correct, simply not correct,'' she said.

The timing of Mr Abbott's trip is secret for security reasons. Trips to Afghanistan by VIPs consume enormous time and military resources; in the past two weekends alone Ms Gillard and the Defence Minister, Stephen Smith, have made separate visits.

The spat over the war began on Wednesday last week when the shadow minister for defence, David Johnston, said more men, helicopters, tanks and artillery should be sent.

Ms Gillard suspected this call was designed to embarrass her when she arrived at the Australian base at Tarin Kowt. The call for tanks was derided by soldiers of all ranks but there was support for more infantry, engineers and helicopters.

Yes, Tony had a poor choice of truth... Next time, he will porkie with better care...

Abotts Faux passe on visiting troops in Afghanistan

Realy had a good laugh at this one, I mean how often do these Liberal idiots put their foot in their mouths ? LOL.

And their call for tanks et al, is ludicrous. I mean since when does a politician (poor one at that) dictate to the troops in war zone, what they can and cannot have ? Without even ASKING the troops what they'd need ?

What does that say of our Politicians understanding of these issues ?

Get our troops outa there post haste, and charge the criminals who sent them there in the first place.
